HIV/AIDS challenges the scientific and medical community along with economists with its uniqueness of destroying human immunity system thereby allowing opportunistic diseases to dominate and derange the affected, and deprive the family with its earning capacity and destabilise them in the community. What matters is the achievement in terms of behaviour change though behaviour change communication where ICTs can be effectively used, in prevention and post infected care and support. In the developing and least developed countries, the economically vulnerable groups are the most affected with constrains on accessibility to information, treatment, food/nutrition. The disease is migrating from the high-risk groups to the weaker sections of the family - the women and children, and from urban areas to rural areas, thereby affecting the socio-economic fabric of the society. The objective of this ediscussion is bringing together knowledge that is spread across countries particularly the South Asian countries, for which OneWorld South Asia provides a platform through ICT. Diverse information is available with NGOs/CSOs, Government, Pharmaceutical companies, Faith based institutions & orgnisations, HIV/AIDS affected individuals & families, Educational institutions, Health professionals and others. The ediscussion platform on the proposed "Pro-poor HIV/AIDS Strategies", is an open ended forum to prepare a status report that can be used to develop pro-poor HIV/AIDS strategies, particularly in south Asian countries. This probably can be used as a model to conceptualise similar strategies in other parts of the world including the African countries. This discussion is been facilitated by OneWorld South Asia as ITCAN commitment. Emmanuel Hospital Association, Philippines NGO Council and Population Foundation of India are co-moderating this discussion.
