BOL is a moderated electronic discussion list, initiated with the new millennium by the "Centre for Women's Development Studies" to bring together individuals and organisations at the local, national and global levels to create a common interactive Forum for Gender Issues. This is the very first list to be initiated from India which is planned as a medium of communication and exchange of ideas on gender issues. The Centre for Women's Development Studies founded in 1980, has tried to build and expand the theoritical and empirical base on gender issues and combine research concerns with action and advocacy. One of the main objectives of the Centre is to help in the promtoion, development and dissemination of knowledge regarding the evolution of women's role in society and the trends in society and the trends in social and economic organisation which impinge on their lives and status.
